In case you didn’t know … in addition to photographing people, I also photograph food! I’m actually a big self-proclaimed “foodie” and I’ve been taking pictures of my food for years for my recipe blog The Nightlife of a Scientist. It’s a little hobby/passion project that I started as something fun to do in the evenings while in graduate school when I was first married and learning more about cooking. My lab mates were also into cooking and so we frequently swapped recipes and ideas. Food blogs were just starting to become popular and one of the first ones I heard about and started following was The Pioneer Woman. I immediately fell in love with all her comfort food recipes and I’ve used many of them as inspiration for some of my own recipes as well.

Little did I know that following our graduate studies, my husband and I would end up moving to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, just a short drive away from Pawhuska, home of the Drummond family. We immediately heard rumors of the country store and restaurant she was planning to build there and we’ve been big fans since the day it opened! The food is amazing at both The Mercantile and the P-Town Pizza and I’ve lost count how many times we have gone there to enjoy it all. Writing this post has me dreaming of eating there again as soon as possible :)

So I was over the top thrilled when Lindsay contacted me about an anniversary session to document their trip to Pawhuska. We were able to take some cute pictures outside of The Mercantile, including some with the iconic red truck :), as well as a cool Osage mural I found down the road. We then finished the session off at a beautiful country property. Lindsay and Philip were a joy to work with and I love how they planned a trip just for themselves as well as a photo session to mark the occasion (us moms know that hardly ever happens!). It really shows how much they value each other and their marriage. Enjoy all the highlights from this destination anniversary session at one of my favorite places in Oklahoma!
